First, my mum organized a party for me, one week before the actual date... to celebrate my 30th birthday. OK, I had prepared the list of guests, though I would never have imagined that so many people would come for me. So many friends, from different places and met in different situations. It was a lot of emotions for me, to see them all at my parent's home. Well, the presents received that evening were nothing compared to the presence of everyone, that was my dearest gift.

Second, a business Friday drink became a surprise birthday drink. The custom is to go for a drink after work with all Geneva colleagues, that happens almost every week and it's organized by the Geneva office. That time, for once, I am in Geneva and not Zurich on a Friday, the day of my birthday, and I go to the drink. I was very touched that they ordered a cake for me a the bar and then I also go a present.

Later that evening, I met some friends to go out dancing at the Amnesia, for a little more celebration. Dancing makes me feel so good.

Since Friday I know my holiday request has been accepted by my director. Today, I tried to book my ticket on Continental Airlines website again, I tried many times this weekend but the site has difficulties verifying my credit card. So after I get the error again, I'm calling the website support and they let me know the last time worked. I have a booking reference, I have my ticket to Florida... finally.

Saturday morning I visited Cartier, my mother works there and we were invited to the open doors. We discovered the offices and manufacture and saw how all the watch makers and jewelers work, it was quite interesting.

On Sunday took place the annual Waelti's picnic. We had postponed it for a week, it should have been last week, as we wanted to welcome Jean-Marc. After years abroad with Nestlé (India, Japan, Brazil), he is coming back to Switzerland with Jeane (his wife) and Jackson (his son). I was so happy to meet them. Jeane is from the US and we spoke English together, she and her son made a bet on whom is going to learn French faster. Next year they'll check: if Jackson wins, he'll get the biggest existing Lego set, and if Jeane wins she get a day in a SPA. She knows she better starts taking lessons now, as children of Jackson's age (8) learn pretty fast :) It was nice to meet them.

This morning I read the newspaper (Le Matin Bleu) on my way to work as usual... One thing was quite shocking though: Paris Hilton is about to adopt a child! I would never let this girl anywhere near a child, she wouldn't know how to take care of a child, how to love him, how to hold him. She doesn't even know how to behave herself, how would she be able to bring up a child? I do hope she won't be allowed to do so. It seems children is the last trend with the stars, they are all getting one, even Nicole Richie is pregnant...

How come children are assimilated with toys nowadays? When will this nonsense stop? Why can't they all understand that children are the fruits of love and not just new fashion items? I really felt like I had to say it out loud (well at least in written). Nothing close to my personal life, just what I think about today's news...
