    Swiss weekend

Friday night I went to Lausanne train station to pick up a friend of mine from Paris, Bernard, he came with the TGV to spend the weekend in Switzerland as I had proposed to show him around. It was his first time in Switzerland so I had planned the 2 days already with options depending on the weather.

On Saturday morning it was raining a lot, we drove to Martigny to visit the Saint-Bernard museum.  The place was very nice, it is a new museum and we appreciated it very much. When we were about to leave I was not feeling too well so we had lunch there too. Then the rain stopped, and that was great because I had planned to see the Gruyères village next and it's much nicer to walk there when it's not raining. The place is very typical for the Fribourg area, it has kept all of its ancient character. Bernard really enjoyed it. In the evening we went to a nice restaurant in Bulle, it is called La Cabriolle and they are specialised in cheese dishes. We had just a traditional fondue though. We were very lucky as we had not booked a table and the restaurant was fully booked for that evening but because we arrived early, the waitress was very kind and let us have dinner at a table where the guests were only going to arrive 1h30 later. I really wanted to have dinner there because of the quality and taste of the food but also because the place is suprisingly kitsch, Bernard loved it, he took lots of pictures.

On Sunday the sun was back and I took him to La Vue-des-Alpes, where there was snow, good surprise since this winter has been so mild that snow has not come down at all until today. From there you can the whole view of the Alps chain and we were very lucky, the sky was so clear that the real whole view was available to see, I don't remember the last time I saw the full view, it is seldom the case, but it's beautiful. We had a walk and a drink in the little caffé. Then we went to Neuchâtel, I couldn't not show it. We saw the Castle and its Collégiale, then the Red Church. I wanted to take him to the creperie Bach & Buck, but they were only opening at 5pm, what a shame, they used ot be opened on Sunday afternoon and we were hungry since it was 4pm and we hadn't eaten since our morning brunch. Well Bernard asked me to go back to Lausanne train station. We got a pizza there and then he took the TGV back to Paris.
